The Quebec government pledged $3 million in disaster relief Monday to help rescue efforts in earthquake-ravaged Haiti.

Premier Jean Charest made the announcement in Quebec City.

"It's emergency aid. It will be given out to non-governmental organizations that are already on the ground in Haiti, and who will be able to use those resources to help people in an emergency situation," he said.

Quebec is the last province to make a financial pledge to Haiti following last Tuesday's deadly earthquake near the capital of Port-au-Prince.

The province has also pledged teams of specialized police and firefighters to help in the aftermath.

So far, most remain on standby, until federal authorities give the green light for them to be airlifted to Haiti.

Meanwhile, several more planes carrying survivors of last week's earthquake arrived in Montreal overnight.

Emergency workers were there to greet them at Montreal's Trudeau International Airport. Two children suffering from fractures in their legs were taken to Montreal's Sainte-Justine Hospital.

Several high school students from British Columbia were among those who arrived Monday morning. They were taken to a hotel near the airport.

The students and chaperones were rescued by the Canadian Forces from a remote town about 50 kilometres outside Port-au-Prince.
